Why Join
#TheStandingO?
As President Obama's time in office comes to an end,
we wanted to send him off properly – by bringing the world together for one last standing ovation.
Join us in #TheStandingO.
REASONS
TO STAND
AND APPLAUD
There are a lot of reasons to offer your standing ovation. Here are some of ours:
Unemployment
and Jobs
When President Obama took office, the unemployment rate was steadily rising to 10 percent. Over the past eight years,
he’s reversed that decline and brought it to 4.6%, aka the lowest it’s been in almost a decade. Additionally,
his time in office has coincided with the longest streak of jobs growth on record. As result, wages have
grown faster than they have at any time in the last 40 years. The poverty rate fell faster than it has in almost
fifty years. And the median household income has grown as the fastest rate on record. Yes, he did.

Health
Insurance
Just eight years ago, more than 44 million people across the US were uninsured.
Today, through the ACA/Obamacare, more than 20 million of those people are covered.
And for the first time ever, more than 90 percent of Americans have insurance coverage.

Climate
Under President Obama's leadership, nearly 200 nations have come together to create The Paris Agreement: a commitment to work on changing the way the world approaches the climate, putting agreements and actions in place that could very well save this planet for future generations.

In his
own
words…
“My fellow Americans, it has been the honor of my life to serve you. I won't stop. In fact, I will be right there with you, as a citizen, for all my remaining days. But for now, whether you are young or whether you're young at heart, I do have one final ask of you as your President - the same thing I asked when you took a chance on me eight years ago. I'm asking you to believe. Not in my ability to bring about change - but in yours.
I am asking you to hold fast to that faith written into our founding documents; that idea whispered by slaves and abolitionists; that spirit sung by immigrants and homesteaders and those who marched for justice; that creed reaffirmed by those who planted flags from foreign battlefields to the surface of the moon; a creed at the core of every American whose story is not yet written:
Yes, we can.
Yes, we did.
Yes, we can.
”
– President Barack Obama
